history

The Philippine Pet Birth Control Center Foundation (PPBCC) started as Barangay Kapondasyon in 2017. Dr. Maricelle Licuanan-Resurreccion together with her team coordinated and conducted free neutering in various barangays around Metro Manila. Taking it to a national level, PPBCC Foundation was founded. The organization is officially registered at SEC as a non-profit organization.

In 2017 alone, PPBCC have done around 30 kapon projects, and neutered a combined total of 2,562 cats and dogs. Our organization continues to go to different locations and communities in the Philippines to offer free neutering services.

Outreach projects are coordinated with local government sectors such as city veterinarians and barangay officials who are responsible for assisting the community to avail the free neuter services. Private sectors are also involved such as animal welfare groups and individual advocates to help facilitate the execution of neuter programs.

PPBCC's founder Dr. Maricelle Licuanan-Resurreccion is an animal welfare and neuter advocate. A veterinarian for fourteen years, she has seen the need to make a change in companion animal welfare in the Philippines. She is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian and has received numerous recognition attributing her work to animal welfare. She has also done volunteer work with different animal welfare organizations and has always championed low-cost neuter services.

She believes that neutering is the only solution to uplift the quality of life of dogs and cats in the country and that the only humane way to eradicate rabies is by controlling the animal population. She also concluded that the increasing population of dogs and cats resulting in inadequate care can be attributed to the misconception and mentality that dogs and cats are trending commodities, and the lack of responsibility of human companions.

She has four kids and loves to do outdoor activities and appreciates nature whenever she is not in the clinic.
